3000K, Inc., a leading interaction agency in Worcester, MA, is seeking an outstanding candidate for a full-time web programming position, available immediately. We need someone who lives by coding, loves PHP and MySQL, and is interested in bleeding edge technologies like AJAX and Ruby on Rails. Your work will directly impact our efforts with multiple Web 2.0 projects (we know - forgive the term) and the long-term success of our company. The Web Programmer works closely with the Applications Director, senior staff, programmers and web developers to create, extend, and maintain sites for 3000K clients and work on 3000K properties. This position serves as a member of core project teams which include designers, HTML developers, other programmers, and site producers.
This position is an onsite job. We will consider telecommuters or outsourcers.
This is a 3-month position. It may be extended into a full-time position based on 3000K’s need and job performance.
Responsibilities:
- Work with staff to create web-based applications and tools using open source technologies including PHP and MySQL.
- Ability to work with a small, focused team of programmers to rapidly deploy highly usable and functional sites and web-based applications and tools.
- Ability to work with senior staff to develop proposals for clients based on project specifications and goals, and to effectively plan out the implementation of those projects.
- A programming philosophy that includes developing open, reusable, and flexible code using best practices and current web programming techniques.
- Ability to maintain and update the code base of small to medium-sized software projects.
- Ability to diagnose, track, and fix bugs in a timely and efficient fashion.
- Ability to robustly perform quality assurance on projects and document quality assurance processes.
- Keeping current with advances in web technologies and monitor industry trends in web programming to help maintain 3000K’s position at the forefront of development.
- Maintain a high volume of work under tight deadlines.
- Handle a wide range of projects and duties.
- Resolve problems in a timely and diplomatic fashion, with a focus on customer service and meeting the needs of clients.
- Interact daily with staff and work collaboratively on projects.
Requirements:
- 2+ years total web programming experience.
- If you’re not great with PHP, JavaScript, and MySQL (and we mean *great*) we don’t want you. No offense, but this position requires fantastic output.
- It would be good to rock with HTML/XHTML/CSS, too.
- Existing knowledge of AJAX, Ruby on Rails, and Web 2.0 principles is a huge bonus, but not required.
- In addition to this we want someone who’s self-motivated, proud of the work they produce, and has excellent communication skills. Written and verbal. (Yeah, that’s right, we want a programmer who can talk to normal people.)
You’ll also need:
- In-depth knowledge and familiarity with programming concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Working knowledge of object-oriented programming, HTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL, Linux, Apache, and JavaScript.
- Familiarity with CVS, open source libraries (such as PEAR and AJAX), Ruby, and Flash scripting a plus but not required.
- Working knowledge of Mac OS X.
