Want to avoid downtime when transferring your domain name or website hosting to 3000K? Here's all the information you'll need.
It's simple.
We need just two pieces of information from you.
Domain Name registration information
If you're going to switch your hosting to 3000K, we need to make sure that your domain name points to your new account on our servers, and not to your old site, where your site won't be for much longer.
To do this, you need to supply us with:
- The name of the company with which you registered your domain name (for example, Network Solutions or GoDaddy)
- The username for your account there
- The password for that account
Once we have this information, we'll be able to change your domain name so that it directs visitors to your site to your new account, ensuring that they find your business, not an error page.
FTP information
Along with changing your domain name's technical information, we also need to be able to log in to your current web hosting account to download your website (if you're moving it to our hosting service, that is).
Doing this ensures that we have all the files and settings that go into your current website and allows us to transfer them to your 3000K hosting account with minimal difficulty.
To do this, you need to supply us with:
- The FTP address of your current website (for example, "ftp.3000k.com" or "200.0.200.0")
- Your FTP username
- Your FTP password
With this information, we can download your site and then launch it on your 3000K hosting account.
Once this has happened, you'll need to configure your email to work with your new account. Instructions for this can be found at our email support page (link).
NOTICE
Once the domain name transfer has been completed it generally takes a handful of days for the changes to take effect. Because of the way the Internet works, domain name changes are not immediate, nor are they simultaneous in all locations. There are seven servers which handle the main domain name and routing information on the Internet and they update themselves, automatically, on different schedules.
Because of this, it usually takes a few days for domain name changes to take effect. Unfortunately, this is the nature of the Internet, and 3000K cannot speed the process.
If you require MX records for routing your mail, the process may take even longer.
